Today was Hazel's first full weekend of performance for Annie and James was at a weekend retreat for DYAO. With that, I wanted to escape to the mountains in our new-old XC70. My goal? Surpass my 12,000 foot fear barrier, possibly summit bierstadt, and, take the XC70 on at least one gnarly back-road to see if anything broke. The results for today? I climbed to 13000 feet, the highest I've ever summitted. I (re) discovered "two brother's road" in Idaho Springs and yes, the car "broke" (low coolant.) The day ended with driving to Josh's house and having a couple-hour visit to catch up.
